Wooden Boat Demo at the Summer Solstice Race - 18th-19th June

windermere-summer-solstice-race-2013.jpg

We will be attending the Windermere Summer Solstice Race again this year and we will bring a range of our boats for people to see and try on the water at Fell Foot.

Our in-water demos are a chance to meet us and see our boats on the water.  If you aren't yet convinced of the advantages of modern wooden boats, or your ability to build one, come along and try them for yourself.

If you have built one of our boats and are able to attend over the weekend of 18th – 19th June, we'd love to see you (and your boat) there, even if you don't intend to participate in either of the two races. You can leave your boat at our stand while you look around, if you are happy for us to let other people admire it!

The races are organised by Windermere Canoe Kayak and you can find out more here as well as apply for entry in the races.

The Whitby Pilot Gig Monarch (winner of the New Waterloo Dispatch Race last year) will be at the Solstice demo on Sunday 19th June, along with Griffin, the Northeaster Dory that won the four-oared category of the 2014 Great River Race.  Two members of the team from Whitby Fisherman's Amateur Rowing Club will be present and the boats will be available for demo, if enough crewmembers can be found.

Please note that the Pilot Gig and Northeaster Dory will only be present on Sunday 19th June.  Please contact us in advance if you are interested in demoing either of these boats.

Thanks to everyone who came to the demo at the weekend.  We had a great time.

Here is our new Big River Rowing Frame in the Mill Creek 16.5.

Colin Cumming brought his Pathfinder 4 raid boat, a distinctive boat that rows and sails without compromises.  We don't offer kits for this boat yet, but please get in touch if you are interested.

Two members of the team from the Whitby Fisherman's Amateur Rowing Club travelled to Fell Foot with their race-winning boats, the Whitby Pilot Gig Monarch and Northeaster Dory Griffin.  The Whitby Pilot Gig is an impressive six-oared coastal rowing boat and one of the largest stitch-and-glue kits available.
