Chesapeake 16 maiden voyage

I started building in June and mostly finished by the end of the summer, then progress slowed. Finally managed to launch today and keep the project within 2021. This is on the Forth & Clyde canal in Glasgow - nice calm water for the first tryout. The photo makes it look the same colour all over, but the deck is varnished and the hull painted yellow-orange.maiden_voyage.jpg

Re: Chesapeake 16 maiden voyage

Congratulations Simon - good to see the kayak out on the water, if you'll be no doubt hoping to get it out in the more scenic parts of Scotland as soon as you can.
However I totally get the wish to try the boat out for the first time on quiet waters - I couldn't quite believe my build would work - so it was good to go somewhere quiet for a trial.  There was also a slight sadness that it would never look quite so good again once it got used - but now I know it works I'm really looking forward to using the boat more.
All the best
Tim
