To avoid the laborious job of cutting lengths of copper wire one at a time.  We have made the roll such that by cutting the whole roll once at the 12 o'clock position and once at the 6 o'clock position the wires will be of the correct length. 

However, I recommend that you cut and keep some long lengths for the odd occasion when longer ones are more convenient.
