Hi folks,
I’m new to the forum after just buying an old Guillemot kayak which unfortunately has been left outside for the past 6 years and has damage to much of its fibreglass and Hull. I’ve learnt a lot already from this forum (thank-you!) and Fyne Boats website, however can you advise the most effective way to remove the old fibreglass without damaging the cedar Hull?
Many thanks!

Hot air gun should melt the resin. Get a blunt paint scraper and work it underneath a small area at a time.
Keep the gun moving. Don’t concentrate the heat just in one place. Cover a square foot or do at a time.

the guillemot kayaks website (can't post a link for some reason) has a video of a repair of a petrel by Nick Schade which demonstrates how to take the skin off a cedar strip kayak.
search for the term 'repair' once on guilemot kayaks .com
