So I've been building my tandem wherry for about a year now, just in the final (long) furlong of finishing.
I've been looking to get the craft licensed for use on CART waters (we live 50m from the Grand Union) but have hit a bit of a snag. The boat is 6m long and CART have imposed (seemingly while I was building it!) a 5m limit on portable craft. As this would mean a £500/year licence instead of a £55 one (I kid you not, I asked them). They suggested going through the British Canoeing but rowing is not included in their insurance.
Anyone got any ideas how I can get this thing on the water? Or should we just move ?

An update,
Following a call to British Canoeing (we don't deal with rowing!-person i spoke to was very cross CART had put me on to them) I called CART back and spoke to someone else who advised I can use their 30 day explorer licence.
Phew.

Harsh. Hope the explorer ticket works for you.

We've been out a few times before the current lockdown, no issues. So yes the explorer ticket is the way to go. Pity the staff member I originally spoke to didn't know the full range of options.
Lots of friendly comments when we've been out from other canal users too.
