Our strip-planked boat kits now include one third of poplar strips with two thirds western red cedar.  The bead-and-cove jointed poplar strips replace the Alaskan yellow cedar we used to supply.  The poplar strips are also available separately for plans builders.

Poplar typically weighs slightly less than yellow cedar and is grown here in the UK - not shipped across the Atlantic - making it both cheaper and more environmentally sound.
