Here are some photos of the boat on Coniston water this year in October. The day was fantastic and the colours out of this world. We headed from the north end of the lake and made out way to Peel Island. With a relatively easy pace we can do about 4 knots. This island stared in the Swallow and Amazons as wild cat island. The picture of the steamer is the refurbished steam powered gondola, she steams about the lake every day in the summer.
We have just come back from our winter trip to the West coast of Scotland. We stayed at Loch Ailort in a fantastic holiday cottage right next to the sea loch. We had three days that we were able to get onto the water, one fantastic weather and two dull but OK days, we didn't see as much wild life as normal. The interesting thing about the area is there are a number of mountain bothies that you can use free of charge if you want to spend the night out, I have included a photo of one of the places, it is completely remote and only accessible via a very long walk or by the sea in a sea going rowing boat! Hope you enjoy the shots
I have just seen a mistake, I have included one of the Scotland photos in the Coniston photo, here is the photo I should have included
