An original Greenland kayak design and paddle

We went to the Royal Albert Museum in Exeter today (rain rain rain), but I still managed to sneak some boatbuilding related experience in. The image is linked from the museum website:

The Shearwater has more than a few design quotes from these, though I was most interested in the paddle. Spectacularly long narrow blades, bone edged for most of the length. It had seen some use, and had been lashed tightly to repair a break. I'm after making something to use instead of the blue plastic one - I might model it on this.
